Bikaner-Guwahati Express train derails

Three bodies have been found, but officials believe there will be more deaths.

On Thursday, several coaches of the Patna-Guwahati Bikaner Express derailed in Maynaguri, North Bengal. Officials added that while three bodies have been retrieved, there are expected to be additional casualties.

The tragedy occurred near Maynaguri’s Domohani district in the Dooars.

“Three bodies have been recovered so far.” A total of twelve people have been brought to the hospital. DM Jalpaiguri Moumita Godara Basu remarked, “All the local hospitals have been urged to be prepared.” Thirty ambulances were dispatched to the scene. The North Bengal Medical College and the Jalpaiguri Sub-divisional Hospital have both been notified.

“At first glance, four carriages appear to have been derailed. The search and rescue operation has begun. “Various teams are rushing to the scene,” Alipurduar Divisional Railway Manager Dilip Kumar Singh said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been informed of the rescue activities, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. In a tweet, he stated, “I’m personally monitoring the situation for speedy rescue operations.”

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has also stated that the situation is being closely followed. “Deeply concerned to learn of the unfortunate Bikaner-Guwahati Express accident in Maynaguri. Rescue and relief operations are being overseen by senior officers from the State Government, including the DM/SP/IG of North Bengal. “Those who have been harmed will be treated as soon as possible,” Banerjee stated in a tweet.

Authorities are concerned about more casualties because the nearest hospital is at least 13-14 kilometers away, according to a source.
